INTERVENTION

What is an intervention?

An intervention is an attempt by family members and friends to help a chemically dependent person get help for his/her problem. These interventions are usually successful and often go onto a drug and alcohol treatment program and learn how to live life without the use of these substances.

The purpose of interventions is to get substance abusers out of denial and show them the ways in which their disease is affecting the people they love the most. With the help of an intervention specialist and loved ones, the intervention process does not have to be painful, but can be the beginning of a new way of living for all those involved.
